Kmart stores have been closing left and right all across the US.
I had the chance to go to one on the first day of it's liquidation sale.
Picked up 3 cars for 20% off (more payment for shoveling snow the last couple weeks).
That means a $1.04 car becomes a $0.83 car.
Before we get to the cars themselves, I wanna talk about the Kmarts.
Pretty much every Kmart in the northeastern US is extremely outdated, with store ages varying from a decade or two old to over 4 decades old with little updating.
Now, they're pretty much all shutting down with no new stores opening up.
Sounds like a company on life support to me.
Anyways, to the cars.
I've found Kmart stores to be a treasure trove of slightly older Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.
When I got to the section in the store I went to, they had more Matchbox cars in stock than I've seen anywhere outside Target, and a pretty good selection of Hot Wheels models.
Unfortunately, most of the Matchbox cars were Coyote 500s and hovercars, and the Hot Wheels were mostly cars I wasn't interested in or I already have.
In the end, I walked out with one Matchbox car and 2 Hot Wheels.

Since I haven't travelled to the U.S. since the '90s, I haven't seen a Kmart since then. They left Canada in '98. I don't think many of the stores here looked any newer ha n this:

I stopped by a K-mart today for the first time in over 5 years and it was definitely outdated. Very apparent when you walk in that they are not doing very well.

wait what? K-Mart is/was still a thing in the US? K-Mart went out of business at least 15 years ago in Canada
